The current exhibition at the Gaur Collection’s home gallery brings together works by approximately 35 artists, made primarily between 2000 and 2010. Through painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, it explores artistic responses to a period of rapid social, economic, and cultural change in India.
The works address questions of identity, gender, migration, urbanization, environmental change, and political conflict. Connecting personal experience with wider transformations, they reveal the diverse approaches through which artists reconsidered India’s place in an increasingly interconnected world. The exhibition forms the basis of the scholarly publication India in Transition: Art and the Global Contemporary, 1990–2015, now in development.
